Provisional Overall Programme:

• Monday 7^th afternoon and evening:
  • Council Meeting of the BPS (for members only).
  • Arrival with registration and ice-breaker cocktail in Oban.
• Tuesday 8^th to Thursday 10^th :
  • Scientific programme: three thematic symposia, a general phycology session, Manton session (plenary students talks), poster session, Planktometrix workshop.
  • Symposia:
    1.  Interactions of algae with microbes and grazers in present and future oceans.
    2. Algal physiology in the limelight.
    3. Blue Carbon: the role of phytoplankton in long-term carbon burial.
• Tuesday 8^th evening:
  • Annual General Meeting of the British Phycological Society.
  • Taylor & Francis sponsored wine reception.
• Wednesday 9^th evening:
  • Keynote address by the BPS Overseas President, Prof. Hiroshi Kawai (Kobe University)
    “A quest for the origin of Laminarian kelps.“
  • Conference Dinner and announcement of Manton Prize winners.
• Thursday 10^th :
  • Annual Meeting to end by 13:00.
